Finding your first coaching gig can be a challenge. Breaking in they call it.  Worst you can’t make money. There are a lot of coaching opportunities where you can get started. 

 

When I started coaching one of my first gigs was a summer camp that a fell across. The directors thought I was looking to enroll my child, but I ended up coaching that summer.  I had a 15-year relationship that involved summer camp, after-school, during school programs.

SCHOOLS

Early childhood education private schools are primed for soccer programs. These institutions are always looking for programs to engage and provide physical literacy. The demand is even greater following COVID. Principals, directors, and parents are welcoming of age-appropriate activities.


SUMMER CAMPS

A great platform to gain experience coaching kids of different age groups. This will become invaluable as you continue your coaching journey, and later coordinate your camps.  

 

TOWN & VILLAGE RECREATION PROGRAMS

These organizations serve the needs of their community. They are looking for programs to offer parents that will provide physical education, fun, and learning. No better sport than soccer. These programs often have the resources to offer soccer for 10 – 12 months of the year. 

 

YOUTH SOCCER CLUBS

Many clubs today hire professionals to coach and train teams. Getting on staff is never straightforward when you are not known. You can always offer to assist the coach. Even if you volunteer that gets you seen.  

 

If soccer is your passion there are many opportunities to make money. The demand for youth soccer has been constant for many, with parents looking for avenues to get their child out of the house.
